A Trumbull County grand jury indicted a former police officer accused of sexually assaulting multiple women last year.

The Trumbull County grand jury indicted Michael Edwards, who used to work for the Warren police department, Wednesday on gross sexual imposition by force, among other charges.

Edwards faces a total of 16 criminal charges, including rape, theft, menacing by stalking and dereliction of duty.

According to online court records, Edwards will be arraigned at 10 a.m. next Wednesday.

His first pre-trial hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. April 1 in front of Judge Cynthia Rice.

The jury trial isn’t set to begin until April 29.
