Boardman police reportedly discovered a vehicle with a broken tail light at about 2:20 a.m. March 20 in the area of Boardman Plaza and a traffic stop followed near U.S. Route 224 and Hitchock Road.

The driver was identified as a 15-year-old Minerva girl with a 19-year-old Wellsville woman as her passenger. According to the police report, the officer had noticed the occupants were switching seats before the traffic stop. The 19-year-old told the office she had allowed the teen to drive because she thought she had a driver’s permit. However, the teen could not produce it and admitted she had no permit.

The females stated they were out delivering “Door Dash” orders.

Attempts were made to contact the 15-year-old’s father in Minerva but was unsuccessful. The teen then gave her grandmother’s contact information and when the officer reached the woman by phone, the grandmother told officers she felt it was OK for the teen to continue back to Minerva with the 19-year-old woman.

The teen was issued a citation for operating a vehicle without a license plus the equipment violation.

She was also given a verbal warning for curfew violation.
