A woman who lives on Parkland Avenue in Boardman Township encountered one of two burglars in her bedroom as she went to discover the noise upstairs shortly after 10 p.m. on April 10.

Responding Boardman police officers talked to the couple who were victimized, and a K9 unit from Austintown police searched the area of Cranberry Run Drive and West Boulvard without any contact with the unknown suspects.

The woman told police she and her husband heard a loud sound come from their bedroom area as they were sitting in the living room. They thought the sound was a picture falling.

About five minutes later, the woman walked back to her room and encountered a middle-aged white man in a tan jacket standing in her bedroom, the report stated. The man had thin-build and was about 6-foot tall.

The woman told the burglar to get outside and she called 911.

Once outside, the couple told officers they saw the burglar get into a black or navy blue sedan which sped away northbound on Parkland towards Cranberry Run.

A neighbor’s ring camera caught the sedan speeding away, but the footage was blurred and did not show any distinguishing features, the report stated.

Missing from the home was one gold ring with amethyst stone, valued at $400, and three miscellaneous rings with a total value of $100. Also taken were various costume earrings valued at $100, the report stated.

Detectives are investigating and have saved the ring camera footage on their laptop, the report stated.
