Woman accused of burglary and resisting arrest at Youngstown house
A 52-year-old woman was arrested on charges of burglary and resisting arrest on April 23 after Youngstown police investigated a burglary at a Westside home on the night of April 22.
Shortly after 9 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Manhattan Avenue after the homeowner returned to find his door unlocked and damaged with cards strewn about the living room and a television containing about 10 stab marks in the screen. The homeowner also reported his dog, a French Bulldog and his cage were missing, the report stated. Other damage included trophies broken and laid on the floor and two pictures slashed. Because the damage seemed to be personal, the homeowner identified the possible suspect to be a former friend whom he had gotten into a fight a couple weeks prior.
The evidence showed that the damage appeared fresh and officers than observed a black SUV turn west onto Manhattan from North Lakeview Avenue with the driver yelling and cussing. The officer caught up to the SUV at Midland Avenue and Salt Springs Road where a traffic stop was conducted.
The driver, identified as Heather Cutlip, showed the officer the dog in the cage in the back of the SUV, but then started to resist the officer as he tried to handcuff her. The officer eventually bear hugged her taking her to the ground and handcuffing her. At this time, the officer observed th suspect to be bleeding from her left eye area.
An inventory of the vehicle showed a Ka-Bar knife on the seat as well as a second knife found in a black bag. The suspect was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and she was taken to the Psych Unit after she had threatened suicide, the report stated.
She was later released from the hospital and taken to the Mahoning County Jail where she awaits arraignment at 1:30 p.m. April 24 in Youngstown Municipal Court on a second-degree burglary charge and a second-degree resisting arrest misdemeanor.
