Man accused of stuffing Walmart hot dogs in sleeves, lunch meat in pants in theft attempt
A man was arrested after being accused of stealing from Walmart by stuffing hot dogs in his sleeves and lunch meat down his pants on Wednesday.
The man was caught by Boardman police inside the Walmart located at 1300 Doral Drive, police reports said, adding that Walmart employees had caught him in the act through surveillance footage before calling police.
The man tried to flee without paying, police records indicated, but Walmart employees stopped him in the parking lot and took him back inside the store to await the police.
The employees gave a description of the suspect to Boardman police who were able to identify him upon arrival. He was promptly detained and police noticed packages of hot dogs in his sleeves.
Officers then removed three packages of hot dogs stuffed into the sleeves of the suspect’s jacket and several packages of lunch meat stuffed down his pants. The total value of the meat amounted to $22.42. He was then arrested for theft charges and transported to the police station.
The suspect was later released on a summons to appear in court.
