Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley launches Project Playhouse at Eastwood Field
Four Mahoning Valley organizations are teaming up to create gifts for local families as part of Project Playhouse.
It’s happening this week with Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley at Eastwood Field in Niles.
Team members at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, Dearing Compressor and Southwoods Health are participating in Project Playhouse.
They’re spending Thursday out at Eastwood Field constructing, painting and decorating up-to-code playhouses for three local families.
“We are so excited to launch this event and expand our community impact in a different way,” said Habitat for Humanity executive director David Redig. “These playhouses are essentially a first ‘home’ for these children – it’s a perfect fit for our Habitat for Humanity mission of homeownership.”
The playhouses will be unveiled Thursday around 4:30 p.m. for three local families to take home and make their own.
Habitat for Humanity worked with the United Way of Trumbull County to find the three families, who laid out which colors and themes their kids would like best.
The Habitat Project Playhouse event received grant support to launch this initiative from The Community Foundation of Mahoning Valley.Additional support sponsors include: Lamar Advertising, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, Home Builders Association of the Valley, Greenwood Chevrolet, 717 Credit Union, Covelli Enterprises, Stifel Nicolaus and John and Jackie Burgan.
