Howland new No. 1 in Mahoning Matters Super 7 girls poll

The Howland Tigers have risen to No. 1 in the mahoningmatters.com Super 7 girls’ basketball poll.

Here are the poll results.

Howland

The Tigers are 9-1 on the season and posted one-sided wins over Hathaway Brown and Louisville last week.

Canfield

The Canfield Cardinals have jumped to No. 2 in the poll.

The Cardinals are 6-3 and knocked off former No. 1 West Branch on a three-point buzzer-beater last Saturday night.

West Branch

West Branch (9-2) fell from No. 1 to No. 3 in this week’s poll, but its losses were to Olmsted Falls, the defending D1 state runner-up and Canfield which was a regional finalist last season.

Crestview

The Crestview Rebels are No. 4 in this week’s poll.

The Rebels are 11-0 and are averaging just under 60 points per game.

Boardman

The Boardman Spartans are 7-2 on the campaign and are ranked fifth in the poll.

The Spartans play at No. 3 West Branch in a big game Saturday afternoon.

Warren JFK

The Warren JFK Eagles have risen to No. 6 in the poll.

The Eagles are 8-2 and recently recorded a 36-point (85-49) win over a solid United Local team.

Springfield Local

No. 7 Springfield Local is 7-4 overall and remains the leader in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Scarlet Division with a 5-0 league record.
