Warren JFK, Ursuline, Canfield at top of Mahoning Matters Super 7 poll
The Mahoning Matters boys’ Super 7 basketball poll has a new No. 1 this week.
Warren JFK
The Warren JFK Eagles (10-1) have climbed to No. 1.
The Eagles have won five straight games and have also beaten the defending D1 state champion Akron Hoban.
Ursuline
Ursuline is No. 2 this week. The Irish are 8-2 on the season and have won two straight.
The Irish have a huge game Friday night when they host the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals.
Canfield
Canfield jumps to No. 3 in the poll.
The Cardinals of head coach John Cullen have been one of the hottest teams in the area.
Led by guard Dom Cruz, they have won eight straight games and are coming off a big 51-48 All-American Conference win over Austintown Fitch.
East Liverpool
East Liverpool drops to No. 4 in the poll.
The Potters are 8-2 on the season but have only lost to one Ohio team, that being Cardinal Mooney last Friday.
The Potters cross the Ohio River Friday night to play at rival Oak Glen.
Cardinal Mooney
Cardinal Mooney is a team on a roll and is No. 5 in this week’s rankings.
The Cardinals (7-3) went to East Liverpool and posted a 66-51 win over an outstanding Potters’ team last Friday.
They have a big game Friday night at Ursuline.
Warren Harding
Warren Harding is No. 6 in this week’s rankings.
The Raiders are 6-3 and recorded a 68-63 win over rival Howland last Friday.
LaBrae
The LaBrae Vikings round out this week’s Super 7 poll at No. 7.
The Vikings are 8-1 on the season and have won seven games in a row.
They will travel to Campbell Memorial Friday evening.
