City of Youngstown unveils new WRTA CommYOUnity bus
The City of Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown and the Community Planning and Economic Development Department unveiled a newly wrapped bus made for the city at Western Reserve Transit Authority.
The WRTA CommYOUnity Spotlight bus
Through a partnership between the city of Youngstown and WRTA’s advertising partner Adsposure, they created a specially designed CommYOUnity Spotlight bus.
It’s a moving billboard that will spread messages about safety, business and community engagement the city of Youngstown throughout the streets
The bus serves to reach and engage the people of Youngstown and to spotlight local businesses downtown.
The bus design includes a QR code to download the YO! App, which rewards residents for shopping and dining at local Youngstown businesses.
“In an effort to connect with and support our community, we are excited to partner with WRTA and Adsposure to spotlight the great businesses, opportunities and people of this amazing city,” said Nikki Posterli, Youngstown mayor’s chief of staff and director of the CPED.
City of Youngstown Police Chief Carl Davis shared how this partnership will benefit community safety and spread messages about gun awareness.
“What this partnership does is serve our children,” Davis said. “As police chief, there have been three or four children who have been shot while playing with a gun. We want to get the message out to kids: When you see a gun, run and tell an adult.”
Brown explained the bus as “another way for us to tell our story.”
“I don’t expect anyone to tell our story better than we can,” he said. “As Chief Davis said about our message about gun awareness and safety, we want our kids when they’re out and about with their parents in the car to see those messages. We want to start doing our part to make sure our children are safe and aware of what’s going on, as well as our business owners. We want to help them, spotlight them.”
Brown said drivers should pull over or come to a stop before scanning the QR codes on the bus to stay safe.
