West Branch returns to top spot in Mahoning Matters Super 7 girls’ basketball rankings
West Branch has returned to the No. 1 spot in the Mahoning Matters Super 7 girls’ basketball poll.
The Warriors are 12-2 on the season and are fresh off one-sided wins over Boardman and Marlington last week.
West Branch is the lone area girls’ basketball team ranked in the Ohio Prep Sports Writers’ Association poll, checking in at No. 10 in the D2 rankings.
Canfield
The Canfield Cardinals vault to No. 2 in this week’s poll following an impressive road win at former No. 1-ranked Howland last week.
The Cardinals had a big second half from three-point range to win that showdown with the Tigers.
Canfield (8-5) followed that with a win over Chippewa.
Crestview
Crestview is No. 3 again this week.
The Division III Rebels are coming off a 48-37 win over the Struthers Wildcats.
The Rebels are 16-0 on the season.
Howland
The Howland Tigers are No. 4 in the rankings.
The Tigers sustained a loss to Canfield last week but rebounded with a 69-28 win over Mayfield last weekend.
Warren JFK
The Warren JFK Eagles are No. 5 this week.
The Eagles are 10-3 on the season.
Springfield Local
Springfield Local jumps to No. 6 in the rankings.
The Tigers (10-4) have won three straight and lead the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Scarlet Division with a 7-0 record.
Austintown Fitch
The Austintown Fitch Falcons jump into the rankings are No. 7.
The Falcons are 11-3 on the campaign and are coming off a 40-38 win against arch-rival Boardman.
