West Branch’s girls’ basketball team won its eighth straight game as it defeated Austintown Fitch 50-21 in the West Branch Fieldhouse Saturday.

Youngstown State-bound Sophia Gregory led the Warriors with 17 points and freshman guard Audrey Eaton finished with 13 points.

“Our senior leadership is really good,” said West Branch head coach Walt DeShields. “It’s a very positive energy all the time and they always are hungry to get better.”

Leading Austintown Fitch’s offense was Destanie McCullough with seven points and Ayla Ray chipped in with six points.

“We play South Range on Monday on Senior Night and we’re looking forward to putting this one behind us and getting ready for a tough South Range game on Monday,” said Austintown Fitch head coach Dan Horacek.

The Warriors, who are the No. 1-ranked team in the mahoningmatters.com Super 7 poll, went out to a 13-5 lead against the Falcons and never trailed.

West Branch, which hasn’t lost a game in over a month, improved its record to 17-2.

Fitch is now 12-7 on the season.
