Report: Canfield’s Denise and John York to sell ownership of San Francisco 49ers to son

San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York is expected to buy equity from his mother, current principal owner and Canfield resident Denise DeBartolo York, to become the principal owner of the team, according to a story published this morning in Sports Business Journal.

The deal is expected to be approved by the NFL during league meetings this week.

Jed York will reportedly continue to be CEO and oversee the business side of the team, while Denise DeBartolo York and husband John York will be shareholders in the the team.

The 49ers made the Super Bowl this season before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime, 25-22.
