Block festival planned to mark St. Patrick’s Day in Youngstown

Thanks to the Downtown Youngstown Partnership, the city’s celebrations for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day are ready to begin.

The two-day ShamRock the Block festival will begin at noon on Friday. Entertainment is scheduled until 11 p.m.

Then block parties continue on Saturday from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. downtown.

Two days of St. Patrick’s celebrations

The party will occur from West Federal & Hazel Streets down to East Federal Street & Andrews Avenue.

Head downtown for drink specials, refreshments, Irish trivia and games and a full line-up of musical entertainment.

The concerts include Steel Valley Pipe & Drum, County Mayo, RDNA, Decades Band, No Funk No Justice, Hoss & the Juggernauts, The Shoe Shine Boys, and 7% Superstars.

Stop by Noble Creature for live music by violinist Caitlin Hedge, Dave Lynn playing acoustic guitar, and Ian Kinnaman playing upright bass.

Businesses open for ShamRock the Block

Many downtown favorites are participating in the festival, including The Federal, West 34, Gringo’s Tacos, Avalon Downtown, Imbibe Martini Bar, The Boxcar Lounge, Noble Creature, Circle Hookah & Bar, Penguin City Beer, Draught House, Prima Cucina Italiana, V2, Ryes Craft Beer & Whiskey, B&O, The Foundation Lounge, and Youngstown Maennerchor.

For paid parking, party-goers can leave their cars at the garage on West Boardman Street. Free parking is available across the river at the B&O.
