Charges stand, next trial date set for former Youngstown State basketball star Dwayne Cohill
A former Youngstown State University star basketball player appeared in court this morning.
Youngstown Municipal Court records show Dwayne Cohill pled not guilty to two misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after an incident with Youngstown State University police officers.
His first pre-trial hearing occurred at 10:15 a.m. today in front of Judge Carla Baldwin in Youngstown.
The charges were upheld by the judge, who scheduled Cohill’s next court appearance 10 a.m. June 26.
The charges stem from an alleged fight between Cohill and YSU police officers that occurred April 13 after police were called to the University Edge apartment complex.
Police said Cohill was arrested after “getting in their faces,” and allegedly not listening to campus officers who were asking him to step back.
Reports indicated he twisted and struggled against officers and members of the crowd encouraged him to fight the officers.
