Dr. Amy Acton returns to Youngstown to speak at YSU this week
Dr. Amy Acton will be presenting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stambaugh Auditorium Concert Hall as part of the Youngstown State University Centofani Symposium Lecture series.
Tickets are free but required for entry. Tickets are available online now until two hours before doors open before the event.
The Florence and Ward Beecher Box Office is open to phone sales from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday at (330) 259-9651.
In-person ticket sales will be available at the DeYor Performing Arts Center during business hours, or 1 hour prior to performances at Stambaugh Auditorium.
Who is Dr. Amy Acton?
Dr. Acton is a licensed physician in preventive medicine and public health.
She’s remembered as a figurehead for Ohioans during the early COVID-19 pandemic having worked as the former Ohio Department of Health.
She led daily news conferences with Gov. Mike DeWine about mask mandates and testing for COVID-19 in 2020.
In 2022, she was named Ohio’s Woman of the Year by USA Today.
In 2023, she won the Distinguished Service Award from the League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown.
Dr. Acton is no stranger to the Mahoning Valley area, sharing earlier this year how she learned to swim at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown.
She has over 30 years of experience in executive leadership, philanthropy, public service, teaching and advocacy.
