Watch: Students at Youngstown’s Volney Rogers Elementary get brand new shoes
Several local organizations and city officials helped the students attending Volney Rogers Elementary School tie the laces of their brand new shoes.
A new pair of tennis shoes was given to every single student at the school, a total of 350 pairs.
Project MKC brought the shoes to school this week to be distributed.
Project MKC is a Boardman-based charity helping northeast Ohio families; their mission is assisting “families who may need a helping hand” with gifts, groceries and community events throughout the year.
The shoes were donated to Volney Rogers through a partnership with Samaritan’s Feet and Coca-Cola Consolidated.
Volunteers with Youngstown Simon Roofing, Project MKC and Youngstown’s Mayor Jamael Tito Brown helped the students try on their new shoes.
