Newton Falls man dies in Bazetta Township crash

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Warren Post is investigating a traffic crash that involved two vehicles and resulted in one fatality on Friday morning.

The crash happened about 3:35 a.m. on the Ohio 5/82 Warren bypass near the Elm Road exit in Bazetta Township.

A Gray 2016 Ford Escape was disabled, according to the patrol news released, stopped in the right-hand lane of the bypass.

How did the crash happen?

Reports indicated Bo Angel, 36, of Newton Falls, was seated in the driver’s seat of the Ford. A red 2018 Mack garbage truck, driven by Bryan Wilson, Jr., 34, of Warren, was driving eastbound on the bypass approaching the stopped car from behind. The garbage truck struck the Ford Escape in the rear and spun it 360 degrees. Both vehicles came to rest on the shoulder.

Angel died from to his injuries at the scene of the crash, the release stated, while Wilson suffered minor injuries.

According to the report, Angel had telephoned the Trumbull County 911 Center to report his disabled vehicle and officers were enroute to assist him when the crash happened.

Officers from Bazetta and Champion Police Departments as well as Bazetta Fire and EMS personnel assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
