Man arrested on felony charge of receiving stolen property
A 63-year-old man was charged with fourth-degree receiving stolen property felony after the ONSTAR service tracked down a stolen 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 to the Big Apple Super Market at 1108 McGuffey Road early Wednesday.
Youngstown police said an East Midlothian Boulevard woman reported her Chevy truck stolen from her driveway about 10 p.m. on March 12. The woman told officers she normally left the key fob inside the vehicle and used her phone to unlock it. On that day, she forgot to lock the vehicle with the fob in it. She discovered it missing from her driveway at about 6:45 a.m. on March 13.
Police after logging the vehicle into LEADS as stolen, ONSTAR was contacted and disabled the vehicle remotely and determined the location to be at the McGuffey Road plaza.
Officers located the vehicle in the plaza and apprehended the offender, identified as Jones in the police report, as he exited the truck.
The woman was brought to McGuffey Road to identify and retrieve her Chevy truck, the report stated.
Meanwhile, Jones will remain in Mahoning County Jail pending his video arraignment at 1:30 p.m. March 15 in Youngstown Municipal Court.
