A 44-year-old man was arrested for an outstanding warrant Friday morning during a traffic stop on Stanton Drive in Boardman.

According to the Boardman police report, an officer on patrol in the area of Market Street and Stanton Drive observed a silver Chevrolet Malibu driving eastbound with a faulty exhaust.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and the Malibu turned in to the Town and Country Motel parking lot. The report states that a check of the passenger’s information revealed there was an active probation violation through Mahoning County Court for him for possession of cocaine.

According to the report, the passenger was detained and placed in the back of the cruiser until the warrant could be confirmed.

The driver received a verbal warning for the faulty exhaust, according to the report. She also gave the officers consent to search the vehicle, yielding no contraband. The driver was then free to leave the scene without incident.

The report states that after the warrant was confirmed, the passenger was transported to Mahoning County Jail.
