The Youngstown Education Association ratified a new two-year labor contract on Friday after reaching a tentative deal with the Youngstown City School District.

Youngstown Education Association spokesman Jim Courim confirmed the deal by email on Saturday and said it gives the teachers a raise, but he couldn’t reveal any other information.

“It was nice to have a deal done quickly and to go through the next two years with a contract,” Courim said in the email.

The Youngstown City School District school board is slated to vote on the deal at its Tuesday night meeting.

“The Board and District are thankful to the YEA,” school spokesperson Stacy Quinones said in a statement by email. “We express our gratitude for this collaborative effort which in turn will support scholar success.”
