Here’s how local musician JD Eicher got to sing in a Speedway advertisement
It started as an appreciation for fresh ground coffee from a regional Speedway gas station for local musician JD Eicher.
This month, it resulted in a local Speedway ad for Eicher, who. He described the filming as lighthearted fun, featuring a new take on the brand’s classic jingle.
“Speedway got a revamp opportunity in 2024 to do a new brand campaign, so they reached out and asked if I wanted to do the commercials, and I re-cut their jingle for them to kind of emphasize the new branding,” said Eicher. “The whole time I’m like, pinching myself, ‘Is somebody messing with me?’ It’s been so fun. The corporate world has its stigmas, but truly everybody has just been very kind, they all have a nice sense of humor, and it’s been a dream come true.”
The Canfield native’s favorite morning boost is Speedway coffee, which led him to shout out and collaborate with the company on social media.
“In this case, I would have never guessed that I’d be I’d be doing this, but it’s been so fun,” he said. “It’s a 15 second commercial, but they’re, I mean, we’re doing it was a 12 hour day shooting. It was really involved. There were 40 or 50 people on the crew, trailers behind the Speedway store like movie size with hair and makeup artists and a video review and editing trailer.”
